NEW YORK (Webpublicapress) -- The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon was among the first, if not the first world’s leaders to react arrest of Ratko Mladić, accused of most notorious war crimes, including genocide in Srebrenica in summer of 1995.
Some 8000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were slaughter in July that year by the Serb forces under the command of general MladićThe UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon talked about that in Paris at beginning of his speech on launch of Global Partnership for Girls' and Womens'education:
“I know that this is not the right occasion but let me say a few words aboutthe news of the arrest of Ratko Mladic.
This is an historic day for international justice. This arrest marks an important step in our collective fight against impunity as well as for the work of the ICTY.
I commend the efforts of President Tadic and of the Serbian Government”, Ban said.
